We all know social media is an integral part of the consumer experience today and creating an event hashtag or promoting your event via social accounts is a great way to connect.

But there are plenty of other ways to enhance your event using social networks. Let’s take a look.

1. Provide Shareable Content

If you have a highlight reel from previous events, make it accessible to share via Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn or Facebook.

Consider the platform you are targeting when providing downloadable branded messages. For example, rectangular images are suitable for Twitter while square images work best on Instagram.

Make it easy for your audience to share your messages!

 2. Entice with Photos of Past Events

This is especially useful if you’re working on a repeat event. Share and tag fun, flattering photos of attendees on platforms like Instagram to allow them the opportunity to comment on their experience.

Sharing these photos will also heighten the possibility of past attendees sharing with their online followers.

3. Maintain Unity

Creating an event hashtag is important, but will only be useful if you create one cohesive hashtag to use across all social media platforms.

You want to create this far in advance of your event and include it on ALL digital media leading up to the big day.

Be sure to add the hashtag (#) with a link to your event in the bio (about) section in all your social accounts. This allows followers a quick and easy way to get info while seeing what others are saying about your event!

4. Connect with Attendees

A new, wildly popular feature of many social platforms is live streaming. This function is easy and allows you to interact with those attending as well as followers at home.

Some might say that sharing too much will deter people from wanting to attend, but it is a great way to complement your event and foster excitement for future events by convincing people they’ll want to attend.

Using Facebook Live is the most common option, but new features on Instagram also allow users to live stream.

Another great way to connect is Snapchat, add photos of guests or videos with short texts to your Snap story so followers can keep up with behind the scenes and event activities.

5. Power of Podcasting

Another growing trend among all ages and groups is podcasts. These are audio (and sometimes video) files, usually produced in a series.

This is an excellent opportunity to reach consumers, talk about your business, your products, and most importantly, you can produce special episodes promoting your event.

If you don’t currently have your own podcast, look for partners to invite you on to an episode of their own and use that promote your event!

The advantages of podcasting are innumerable, but some important ones are brand exposure, ease of distribution, and the chance to mask your promotion as a real conversation.

This will go over well with people who don’t like to be preached at by businesses.
